FAQs

Neve Chabad is a project spearheaded by Mendy and Bruria Efune with the pioneering families of Neve Chabad (meet them on our blog).

Founded in partnership with OR Movement.

Working in cooperation with Chabad International, Merkos, and Aguch of Israel.

Because it’s needed. Our growing Chabad population needs new communities for our young families to live in. Communities that are supportive, affordable, and provide a platform to spread Judaism around the world.

Read our plan here for more detailed information.

You can get to know some of our families through reading our joint blog.

We’re still in very early pioneering stages, so our community is built of families who are up for the challenge.

We’re aiming to build in the Negev of Israel. Until then, our community is gathering in nearby Be’er Sheva.

Neve Chabad is in early pioneering stages. It’s hard to know when we’ll be building on ground, but we hope it will be very soon. For now, we’re gathering our community in Be’er Sheva.

Right now we’re only accepting for the pioneering stages. The pioneering stages can take anywhere between 2-10 years. If you’re interested in joining when things are more settled, please let us know with this application form. When we’re ready, we’ll get in touch with you.

Neve Chabad is in early pioneering stages, and therefore only able to accept families who are ready for the challenge. Read our pioneer page to see if it will work for you.

We have a zero tolerance policy for child abuse of any form – including sexual abuse. Peoples with any history of abuse will not be allowed to live in Neve Chabad.

Any suspicions of abuse on our yishuv must be reported straight to the police. Victims will receive the complete support of the community, and community leaders.

Southern Israel is a large area. The area we hope to build in is actually quite far from Gaza, and has been very quiet. Obviously we can’t guarantee your safety, but we’re not worried. We’ll take the safety precautions we need, and G-d will do His part.

No, it won’t.

Eventually there will be everything. In the early stages members will need to travel to nearby cities to go shopping.

Eventually Neve Chabad will create its own schools. Until then, most children will be attending the excellent Chabad schools in nearby Be’er Sheva.

Every school is different, so it’s hard to give an exact number. A large family which receives the typical family discount might pay ₪2,100 per child annually.

There are many benefits available for people who make aliyah, including paid flights, financial grants, and an absorption allowance. Click here to read Nefesh B’Nefesh’s list of benefits.

There are additional benefits available to those who make aliyah, or relocate to the south of Israel. Neve Chabad is included in this category. Click here to read about those extra benefits.

Neve Chabad is a grassroots effort that started with pocket money from its members. Generous help from Nefesh B’Nefesh and OR Movement has helped us spring forward to where we are today. The government of Israel does provide the bare basics for building a yishuv, but we’ll still be working to raise the finances to cover other essentials.
