Over 150 Chabad English speakers, from all over Israel, gathered in Gan HaPaamon in Be’er Sheva on a beautiful Chol HaMoed Pesach afternoon, to meet new friends and reconnect with old ones, while enjoying a delicious barbecue. The kids played while the adults farbrenged, conversed, and enjoyed this much-anticipated event.

Five years ago, members of the Facebook group “Chabad English Speakers in Israel” thought it was high time for a real, live get-together, and organized to meet up in a park in Yerushalayim on Chol HaMoed Pesach. It was such a resounding success that, amid much enthusiasm and anticipation, a gathering has taken place every year since. The last two years’ events have been hosted by the Neve Chabad community in Be’er Sheva, complete with a barbecue, good wine, and even better company.

“Of course I came,” said Becky Algarissi, who has brought her family to every one of the annual barbeques so far. “I wouldn’t miss it for a thing!”

These gatherings are important for the development and growth of Chabad English speaking families and communities in Israel. There is a small but growing number of Chabad English speakers throughout the country, and the support, camaraderie, and friendship of fellow Anglos are essential for the continued progression and success of happy families and strong, grounded communities throughout Israel.
